A dark-fantasy drama set in a fractured world where humans host fragments of dead dragon consciousness — Remnants — that grant power at the cost of slowly consuming the people who carry them. Zyra, a reclusive scholar of a pacifist order, has spent years studying the thing she carries rather than wielding it, while an unstoppable enemy quietly hollows out the world village by village. When a battle-hardened commander from a rival military faction arrives at her gates, the fire she keeps surges toward the fire he keeps — and the series begins to circle a buried truth: the powers they each carry are two halves of the same ancient dragon-sovereign, split centuries ago and engineered to find each other. Each episode is a tightly held beat of dread and attraction, building toward a merge that could end the threat at the cost of permanently unmaking who each of them is.

Alone in the lower archive beneath a dragon-shaped Remnant scar in the stone, Zyra reads from a three-century-old book that claims the fire and the light were never separate — while the Remnant she carries bends her lamp toward her and offers, wordlessly, to be asked. It shows her a vision anyway: a featureless figure of pure darkness waiting on an empty road, the nearest word for it being apex predator. Heading to her duties, she finds a controlled trail of blood in the corridor — fire-class, one of the order's own — proof someone walked the halls in the dark and fought back hurt while she slept. A note pinned to the message board, sealed with the fractured circle of the Obsidian Circle, warns that at first light they will send the one she cannot stop. First light was an hour ago.
